Scents for Neutra VDL House

Cast glass and aroma molecules, 2021

Site specific work created for Built-In, at the Neutra VDL House in Los Angeles, Ca. Exhibition curated by Erik Benjamins and Marta. Scents for Neutra VDL House is a series of three scents and glass vessels responding to the materials, design, and light within the Neutra VDL House. Each of the three scents Nature NearLife and Shape, and From Floor to Clouds reference a different level within the house. The titles are derived from architect Richard Neutra’s writings. Neutra believed that architecture should stimulate all senses. In his writing he discussed the importance of odors and sensation on the viewer’s nervous system and subconscious. Originally built in 1932 by architect Richard Neutra, the Neutra VDL House is now a National Historic Landmark and museum committed to cultivating education, architecture, art, and culture. www.neutra-vdl.org
